Red Velvet Couches, Soothing Jazz & Yellow Light
To drink, to eat, to read, to write
A place you can call temporarily your own
And in this small round table, I am alone
Staring at the empty chair right across me
Wondering who you might be
-
Donut and Tea for the guy in blue and glasses
So cute you’d want to give your number and address
The old couple beside me shares a slice of cheesecake
Then you wonder when did true love become so fake?
Endless questions in every sip of this cappuccino
Imagining this fantasy world that only I know
-
The ambiance reminds me of this familiar place
The arms of someone and his warm embrace
These days, I come here with that yearning
For something sweeter than a Frapuccino serving
He may just be like the additional whip cream
Sipping through the reality of a dream
-
So many lips have kissed this cup
But no one to, in this coffee shop
I try to fight it, but the rain started to pour
Still not knowing you but missing you even more
But I still smiled and held on to my faith
Someday, that chair across comes with a permanent date.

POEM INSPIRATION: Last week, I’ve been spending a lot of time in different coffee shops to meet my requirements. I love how productive I can get when I stay there. And whenever I take a break from the work I’m doing, I observe the people around. I got inspired to write this poem while eating Unlimited Cake and drinking Unlimited Coffee in CCA. What’s your coffee shop story?
